Langtang, also renowned as “The Valley of Glaciers”, is an ideal trekking zone that takes you through thick forests, alpine valleys, across sluggish rivers, hasty mountain streams and charming ethnic villages. Of course, the highlight of this Langtang trekking is none other than the amazing panorama of the stunning Langtang peaks (like Lantang Lirung, Gyanghempo, Langshisha Ri, Yansha Tenji and Nayakang) seen from the summit of Chorkari RI, a hill nearby Kyangjin Gompa.
Though Langtang is one of the least travelled destinations, it is nevertheless the most beautiful trekking route which takes you through ethnic villages and thick forests scattered on the way to the mountain peaks like Langtang-Lirung. Langtang valley trek reveals the contrast between the Buddhist culture of the Langtang valley and Hindu culture of the Kathmandu valley. The highlights of this trek include Kyangjin Gompa, Langtang valley and the Lirung Glacier.
This trek is also known as “The Valley of Glaciers trek”. Here, the mountains view is excellent with mountains rising and soaring into the sky on both side of the valley. On this trek route, you can get the opportunity to pass through sluggish rivers, hasty Mountain streams, plain forest, jagged rocks and snow capped peaks. If you trek to the upper part, then you can see small lakes with icebergs floating on them, snow conduit straddling angry torrents, high passes wrapped in mist and water of crystalline clarity.
This trek comes in the area of Tibetan culture and the home ground of Yak. It starts from Syabrubensi and ends at Syabrubensi again. From the starting point, you need to follow the Langtang stream in the east until you finally reach Kyangjin Gompa (3900m), where you need to stay one extra day and climb Chorkari Ri (5050m) to have the superb view of the Himalayas. This is a moderate trek which anyone can easily accomplish to end their journey of some curiosity. If you wish to visit beautiful Langtang National Park too, then you need get a permit by paying Rs 1000 per person, which will also add some more beauty and memoir in your trek.

No more rides from now onwards. From this moment, we have hit the Langtang-Gosainkunda trail, and our destination of the day is the Lama Hotel dwelling beyond the Langtang Khola. It would take about 6 hours as we hike our way through Doman (1685m), and then across the Landslide Lodge (1810m), past the Bamboo and then across the suspension bridge over Langtang Khola, which opens up to Rimche (2400m) and then finally to Lama Hotel.
And, by the way, we will be passing thick forests of oak, rhododendron flowers and bamboos on our route, where you may catch sight of the famous red panda, black bear, langurs (a kind of a monkey) and such exotic Himalayan wildlife.
